Pirate Nightmares Suck.

Early this morning, I woke up today from a nightmare- it involved ravaging pirates, an emaciated captured woman, and bombs- all in my apartment.

I woke up with "Masters of War" stuck in my head and it all was so heavy I couldn't go back to sleep.

I turned on some "Frasier" then went to get something to eat and noticed I was cold. I remembered Ami didn't want a blanket last night so I checked on her. She seemed slightly chilly, I put a light blanket on her but she woke up.

I snuggled with her.

She wasn't going back to sleep so I told her I had a nightmare and I felt better now that I was holding her.
She's a very good listener.

We snuggled a bit more.  I was trying to sleep and she was telling me about the flower she found on the collar of her pajamas... and then something about her pillow... then something about something else and so on.

She eventually let me sleep a bit.

She eventually asked me if she could go see Papa.

Absolutely!

She and Papa made pancakes again.  Ami poured and flipped them! She also dressed herself today, too.

So big...

We've been talking about describing words like 'big' and 'tiny' as well as, 'next to' and 'behind.'

I know right now I haven't been giving my 100% to her and I feel really guilty.  Since I've recognized it, I've gotten better, and I have been giving her more hugs and kisses. I've also been trying to be more imaginative w her, although my head is in the clouds about entirely different imaginations.

She's so beautiful.

"You Talkin To Me?"

Ah..  I love Project Runway on a Sunday evening, sitting in bed after a delicious dinner, just hanging out w my husband.

Yesterday, Ami and I went to the Hot Rod show to drop of the gift certificate Mike made up for the derby girls.

I got some Five 40 Girl business cards to hand out and gave some to Mike to leave at the shop.
I also got a good report from Marilee.  Ollie is doing fantastically- my belly shot out and has grown a bunch.

Mike took the car to work so Ami and I chilled at home. I cleaned her room- a great accomplishment considering her need to make everything messy.

Nina took us out to the park and the playground early in the evening...
Ami is getting a lot of practice on her scooter.

I read this license plate as "Nubs" but perhaps it's more like "Noobies"?

Anyway- this morning Ami and Papa made pancakes for breakfast and played hide and seek pretty much the whole time until Ami and I got picked up by Nina to go to lunch w Pepaw, Nina's dad.

We went to Castiglia's to eat.  The waitress/hostess was AWFUL!!!

Not only did she NOT give Ami silverware but she didn't make any accommodation for her what so ever.

I asked for hot water and iced water to drink and she gave me hot water in the same tall glass as my iced water

It was pretty ridiculous.  I asked for a ceramic mug for my hot water so I could make tea.

It was things like this over and over...  It was nutty...

Oh!!! and before we went out to pick up Papa, kids were throwing a Yuengling bottle, smashing it in the parking lot.

I was at the top of the stairs when I heard them do this, when I looked, a boy picked up the bottle. He said, "Let me smash it!"

I said, "I don't appreciate your smashing glass in the parking lot!!!"

Of course because I made it about how I felt, he threw the bottle down anyway.

So... something came over me and I did my first old lady, "Where are your parents?  Take me to them."
"You're going to talk to my mom?"
On our way to his apartment, I told him how dangerous throwing broken glass in the parking lot- especially w a bunch of kids around.

I stood by his door and waited for a couple of minutes.
His mom came out in- no lie- a moo-moo and curlers.
I told her what happened and I couldn't read her face.

Whatev, right?  I hate this neighborhood.

I picked up Mike and we were off to Joe and Nikki's house to eat and play Dominoes.
The pizza was from Dominoes.

It was good.

We made up more verses to "Wheels on the Bus."

"The Papa on the bus goes fart, fart, fart..."
"The Mama on the bus..."
"The Ami on the bus..."
"The Ollie on the bus..."

Haha, Ami was cracking up.

At one point, Mike and I were talking about my idea of a book that has the entire (Noah's) arc farting and Ami said, "You talkin to me???"

My family rocks.

Low Key Wednesday

Library this morning!  After we made and ate pancakes, we all walked to the library for story time.  Miss Meghan was our storyteller and the theme this week was birthdays considering the 4th was the library's 1st birthday.

This is an old picture, but I haven't yet posted it...
Ami is too cool for school...

"Momma!  I wear. your. hat!!!"

"I. take. a picture!"

"I draw um...  a fish!"

"Meow. This. is. my kitty? What. does. a kitty say?"

"I'm Like A Cheetah. A Fat Cheetah."

I decided to go to open mic.

This was just a thin fog covering me the entire day instead of a really heavy one. It's reassuring that I'm gaining confidence.

Ami and I went to Wegmans in the afternoon.
AudioGalaxy played Do You Realize as we were pulling up so we sat and listened to the whole song. Oh my gosh it's so beautiful.

This video is reminiscent of the fantasmic time we had at the show. WTF. I still have some confetti and probably will be buried w it.

I digress....

We had a little bite...

She had a piece of paper and marker and was making a grocery list- of stuff we were putting in the cart.

It was pretty awesome.

We got home and she took a nap as I got some housework done then Nina picked Ami up and they did their thing.

I practiced for open mic a little bit. I really think singing to Ami every bed and nap time has helped. I wanted my new song finished but it just didn't happen. I would have ended up singing the first verse twice.
I played Captain, The Tree Song, and Picture. I think it was the best time I've played all three, although I did mess up a bit.

Because the Lady Singers of Fredericksburg were promoting their showcase Friday, they created a bit of a mutiny- singing for everyone else. It ended up being the same ppl up there for most of the time. Which was fine because I signed up early and could leave anytime... also I got to see Jenna play guitar and cello and sing.

I found this awesome poster in the bathroom.
They are fucking serious.

A lot of lady singers sang so prettily... I am often very jealous of pretty things as I can't do pretty.

I don't do frills or fuss. I'm very straight forward.

That's why I didn't do gymnastics...

And why I power tumbled...

What ev.

New Song!!!

And it's about pizza!

Was Craig hungry?  Perhaps...

In the morning before practice, Mike, Ami, Garry and the Bean went to Foode for breakfast. OMG. I really wish I had some now. I say this a lot. It's always true.

Ami was really tired and quite grumpy.
Can you tell?

I told her she looked like Joon.  She wanted to wear the helmet.

Poor grumpy girl...

Ahh.. yummy biscuit.

I want the egg biscuits sandwich and potatoes and biscuit w blueberry butter. Please!!!
I think we're going back next Sunday.

Ami says, "I drive?"

When we were in the car, Ami asked to watch, "Bob" (What About Bob?).
Papa said, "I'm sure if you ask Momma, she'll say yes."

We got home and Ami asked me, "I watch Bob naked?"
Haha, then she asked me to watch the Simpsons.

I said, "Yes" because I needed a nap.  I got a little one in.

Other than breakfast, Ami and I hung out at home, sprucing up. Ami played in her room most of the time.

And this is how she plays, ha ha, still naked from snuggly tv mommy nap time.

She ate some of Nina's Curry, brown rice and beans, and grape tomatoes.... eating it up..  w some raisins for dessert.
And she didn't have any problem accepting that it was nap time.
We go through the plans... what we're doing after she wakes up.

I think she likes that.

On our way to Nina's we were listening to Stereolab.
We've been listening to Stereolab a ton. I want to be in this band.

Haha and on my way to practice, at the light from rt. 3 to rt. 2, I saw this cd tossed out of a driver's side window it seems.  I wanted to pick it up and listen, sure it was a mixed tape or a boyfriend's band.

These practice pictures are from last week, I think.

And this is our Pizza song we wrote today.  I wish you could hear the keys...

Columbia Family Fun Day.

Friday was laundry day.
Ami played with play doh. We went to Target and open gym.

After her nap, we went out for ice cream. She was so proud of herself throwing away her trash from across the way.
She kept saying, "Bye, Momma!  Bye!!"

And this is one of her funny faces.

Jumping to Saturday morning, we left at 9 to get to Donna's Cafe at 11 to meet Dad-Daddy, Mom-Mommy, and Uncle Nick.

Ami got some gifts- a big blue book of beginners readers stories and a Cabbage Patch Doll named Brianna Veronica.

Because Donna's was having technical difficulties- the power was out- we hopped across the street to Eggspectations which was delicious.

Ami had wheat toast, eggs, fruit and milk and a side of Dad-Daddy fun time.
I had cinnamon raisin french toast topped w kiwi, cantaloupe, mango, strawberries, grapes and banana. It was really good.

And then we shared some yummy cake.

After lunch we went to Centennial Lake for a little walk and playground fun.

We went out for ice cream by the Enchanted Forest and my old apartment. Ami said, "A castle!"
It was sweet.

We parted ways w the fam and headed over to Mema's.
Ami played w blocks as Mema and I talked.
I told Mema about our day, then she asked if I wanted to go get dinner. I said, sure.
:)  Mema called Donna's and their electricity was back on.

So Ami, Mema, and I went there.
Ami fell asleep in the car and stayed asleep all through dinner. Mema and I ordered corn fritters and the grilled peach salad. Oh man, so good.
A jazz band consisting of drums, bass, and keys played Beatles songs. I wish I was sipping wine, as I was feeling very Columbia-hip.

After dinner, Ami and I headed home.
It was such a lovely day.

It's really easy for me to be with ppl who share similar ideas of respect.
