The First Week of December Medley.

I went to Open mic last Monday.
I totally messed up and blanked.  I got very self conscious about my finger all of a sudden.

Starting guitar back up has been very hard.  By February I really was starting to be comfortable playing and grooving... solo-ish stuff and now I am only comfortable playing open chords.... except for D.  For some reason, my pinky over reaches the correct note onto the next string.

So...  I've written two songs since then and again, have decided to practice covers.
Last Monday was going to be my make-up for the Monday before but there was  such a dissonance between me and the guitar... my ears just weren't working and my voice couldn't fall into place.

I practiced today and am relieved that I sound and feel better.

I've been working on Corduroy, Not For You, and In My Tree.  I thought it'd be beneficial to do a little Vitalogy exploration.

Ami said, "Don't cook it, Mom."   Um.. Ok.  She's eating a frozen waffle..

As we speak, salt and pepper ice cream ... batter?... is being chilled and getting ready for the ice cream maker. I got ahead of myself and didn't follow directions exactly... we'll see how it turns out.

I'm gonna get on that right now...

"Where's My Awix?"

Saturday turned out very different than I had intended.

It was too early to go to the market (I was so tired!) before Marilee came so we just kind of chilled.
Then Marilee called at like ten and asked if she could come at 2. I said yes.

This means I couldn't go swimming and Ami didn't go to gymnastics. It meant we could go to the library, though.  It was a pretty good walk.  Weather was alright and we got some much needed exercise.

Marilee came and said I need to take more chlorophyll. She also said we're trying to cook this baby to at least 6 lbs. If she's anything under, her sucking ability is hindered and the worry of keeping her weight up would be a stressor... especially if she is tongue tied like Ami was.

After Marilee and her assistants left, we got ready to meet Alix at Coldstone Creamery.

The whole drive there, Ami asked where we were going.
She asked if Moo was going to be there.  I told her I didn't know.

It turns out... He was!

She ate a kiddie size chocolate cup and when she was done, she dug into Moo's ice cream.
He was very sweet about it.

She examined this gummy bear for like... ten minutes, haha.

Then we went to Target to get her some much needed new shoes.  Dude. Her feet grew last week.
Her new shoe size is in another section.  She's such a big girl!

She picked them out herself!

After our Target visit, we went home and waited for Mike to get home to go to Moe's house for an impromptu curry dinner.

On our way, Ami asked, "Where's my Awix?"

Oh, so freakin delicious!!!

Saturday It Rained Outside and in My Brain.

I think we're going to have to skip Nina's gymnastic's class on Saturdays. Ami is just too wacked out and tired... Unless I can find a way to make it work. She asks about it often.

After class, we went to Springfield to meet up w Aunt Jecca and Paul. We drove to Alexandria and ate at a place called Bilbo Baggins. Ami and I ordered bruschetta and fresh rolls (rice paper) and remembered how much fun we had had the night before.
They have excellent bread, btw, as Ami here, is demonstrating.

We visited the Torpedo Factory. Some things were inspiring. There was really awesome metal work, as well as paper mache shizz.

Then we went to get some ice cream.
I got red velvet cake ice cream- it was way too sweet but it was good.
Ami picked out cookies n cream.
We later traded... then traded back.

After ice cream, we went back to Paul's house and left for  home.  It took 2 hours!  I was amazed how backed up 95 was.

We were rocking out to some Ida Maria.
Ami can rock this song out, Dude.  More than Iggy Pop :)

After she fell asleep, I hit random, I guess on Audio Galaxy, and it really wanted me to listen to Andrew Bird and Built to Spill. I nearly fell asleep in the stop/go of traffic.

I found out I don't like Rilo Kiley during this trip which bummed me out.  Oh well, right?

Ami and I got home in time for us to chill just ever so slightly before she went to Nina's house and Mike and I went to his show at Eyeclopes.

It was an all ages show so there were a lot of kids. I made some friends- a bunch of shorties. We were talking about my belly.

The first band was from Charlotte, North Carolina. They were old and they could rock.
I just don't understand how one can be that old and still not sing like him/herself. The singer was trying to sound like Lemmy.
I totally understand kids trying to emulate someone, but I imagine when you're 40 or 50 you should be yourself... but... what do I know. I'm only 29.

We left in the middle of the third band. They were pretty lame. I just don't understand that music. I can't even remember what they were called so I can't give an example.

Anyway, Mike and I came home, I was exhausted. We made pizza on whole wheat flat bread. It was good.
Then I died.
